ARCHIDONA

Archidona it is an ancient city, its sources are soared to the Roman Empire. It is located in the Region of Antequera, North of Málaga, to 20 km of Antequera and near the A-92 highway.

It is placed in the skirt of a mountain. It was an important strength during the caliphate of Córdoba and the nazarí kingdom of Grenada. In the high part of the mountain owns a very wrong preserved castle but that it can be visited. Within walled enclosure exists a hermitage (very well preserved), ancient Musulman mosque, in the one which can be seen the Christian part as well as the Musulman. Magnificent hearings from the ive, term archidonés to designate the crest of the mountain.

Within village is found the Plaza Ochavada , closed park compound of eight sides of the century XVIII.

Exist several churches that emphasize by its belfries. Other sites of interest are The Cilla (ancient oil press, today current common council), Caños de las Monjas (bars zone with very good tapas) .
