REGION OF ANTEQUERA


The Region of Antequera constitutes the north of the province of Málaga approximately the geographical center of Andalusia.

The capital of the region is Antequera, city with some 40 thousand inhabitants. Taking as reference this city, crossing of highways, cities as Seville, Málaga, Grenada and Córdoba they are to less than two hours by highway (Seville the one which more - 2 hours - and Málaga the one which less - less-than half hour -).

Exist many sites that to visit, so much within as outside of the cities and peoples. Here they go some of the most interesting.


  1. Natural Landscapes

  2. Torcal de Antequera.
    It is a rocky training that is found placed to some thousand meters of height and serves as frontier to two slopes (is what causes that own its physiognomy). Due to the fact that the rocks are cálcicas and to the characteristic climate of the zone (large temperature variances, frosts, wind and dampness) has caused that the rocks own some particular figures and the land will be very hilly.     Lagunas de Fuentepiedra.
    Natural exception where many fowl stay for the winter, between them the Flemish rose. Exist acceptance center.

    Peña de los Enamorados (Rock of the Enamoured).
    Mountain that separates the fertile plains of Antequera and from Archidona. It looks like the head of a tumbled Indian.

  6. Porra fría (Cold bludgeon):
    Typical plate of the region composed of the ingredients of the gazpacho, but without water, to which is added to it ham, hard boiled egg, etc. (in other sites exists something similar called salmorejo).
    Molletes:
    Small roll and flour cover. Different depending on the city where is make. Ideal for the breakfast. That of Archidona, round and with crumb denser, exquisite with chicharones or with olive oil. That of Antequera, a little lengthened, equal of good with olive oil and tomato (this can be found in several cities of Andalusia).

  8. Holy Week. (Archidona and Antequera).
    Luxurious and large pasos (passages?), colour processions (music band, penitents and mantillas (women wearing typical dresses) (and authorities). Better gave on Friday Holy.
    Fairs.
    In all the villages exist Fairs in August with great animation.
